Idanha-a-Nova, música e natureza
The territory of Idanha-a-Nova is part of the Naturtejo Geopark, near the border with Spain. It’s a destination of choice for mountain bikers and hikers. It regularly hosts music initiatives and festivals. UNESCO has declared Idanha-a-Nova the City of Music.
Start your morning with good physical activity. The city and the area around will give you good ideas. In the Naturtejo Geopark and Pinhal Interior territory, you’ll have plenty of hiking and mountain biking opportunities. You can choose the Fossils Route and visit the beautiful town of Penha Garcia. Here, you also have the Pego River Beach.
After a packed lunch, visit the Historical Villages of Monsanto and Idanha-a-Velha. The heritage in Idanha-a-Velha is extraordinary! A stop at the Sta. Maria Church, the Varas Mill and the Roman Bridge are mandatory.
Return to Idanha-a-Nova and take a short walk through the village. Right next to the Hostel is the Mother Church. You can follow the Municipal Garden to Largo do Município. At night, try and enjoy a goat’s cheese, oven roast kid and a tigelada dessert. If you’ve done it, you're a lucky one and you’ll make a lot of people jealous!
